BYE, 2016 & Looking Forward to 2017

Oh 2016, you were an unforgiving and straight-up savage year. I feel like there were more wtf moments in 2016 alone than the past 5 years combined. That aside, 2016 was still a year I can’t help but be grateful for. It was a year of some pretty serious milestones for me(graduating college, new job, moving to NYC, those kinds of things) and also a year of self-discovery. A year of letting go of insecurities and chasing dreams unapologetically. I fell in love with new places and new people. I let go of grudges and imaginary limits. It’s incredible how much can change in a year.
Most of my favorite 2016 moments are ones I don’t have a pretty Instagram picture or blog post for, they’re the little moments in life that actually shape you and your mind. It’s the 2 AM conversations about anything and everything, it’s the 4 hour road trips with people you sometimes take for granted, it’s the spontaneous ideas that arise last minute, it’s sharing life stories with people you’ve just met and may never see again, it’s the trips you didn’t plan but happened anyways, it’s all of those moments that just sort of happen and don’t need a stylized Instagram post to prove that they were great.
As cliche as this phrase is and always will be, I feel blessed for the good & the bad, for all of it, I’ll take it 2016.
Looking forward to 2017, I’m not one for setting new year resolutions or goals but with my current state of clarity I’m so looking forward to working on myself personally and professionally this next year. This blog is something that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed for the past 4 years & 2017 will be the year I start treating my blog as more than just my little free-time escape or hobby. I want to create good, engaging content. I love sharing this small facet of my life with you guys and will continue doing it as long as someone is here to read it.
Here’s to the New Year, make the most out of it, kids.
