NYFW Guide Pt. 1: Where to Stay

So, I’m starting a little series based off of my New York Fashion Week experiences. I’m putting together a guide to NYFW and first things first: WHERE TO STAY. For non-native New Yorkers, navigating all of the neighborhoods in the city can be a daunting and confusing task. Now, with fashion week shows being hosted at multiple different venues all across Manhattan, there is no 1 perfect area to stay in to be “closest” to the venues. It comes down to finding a spot that is in an area you enjoy. For me, it was W New York on Lexington Ave. Not only is it a stylish and modern spot, the location is in a relatively quiet part of Midtown East and was actually an easy commute to all of the show venues I attended, from Skylight Clarkson Sq. to Skylight Moynihan Station.
Another important note: this is Fashion Week, and after all is said and done, your feet will hate you and your body will be shutting down on the elevator ride up to your room. Yes, FW can be physically exhausting and having an exceptionally clean and comfortable bed to call home can make a world of difference. My bed at W was beyond heavenly, I would recommend 10/10 for the fluffy white coziness.
It also doesn’t hurt when your hotel provides killer beauty and bath products. W Hotels provides complimentary Bliss products and I couldn’t be happier. You have to be fresh, clean, and moisturized to tackle the city during FW.
If you’re attending FW, chances are you are documenting it somewhere on social media, so you have got to get those aesthetics right. Marble counters, high rise city views, and a well lit room will make all the difference in your flat-lays and mirror selfies. My room at the W was full of photo-ops, which was a life saver when I would take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city but still wanted to post some great content. It’s the little things!
Overall, choosing a place to stay for fashion week comes down to the location, aesthetics, and comfort level of the hotel. For me, W New York is an ideal “fashion week home” and I would definitely recommend it for future fashion weeks.
Stay tuned for Pt. 2 of my NYFW guide series!
